Scoutmaster and Assistants

Marshall Willis, Scoutmaster

Marshall has been involved in Scouting since 1998 when his second oldest son, John, started Cub Scouts. From 2003- 2007 he served as a Committee Member for Troop 114. From 2007- 2008 he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster. Marshall is also a graduate of the University of West Florida and a Certified Public Accountant. He works for the Florida Public Service Commission as an Assistant Director, involved in the regulation of investor owned electric, gas and water utilities. Marshall enjoys spending time with his family, camping, hiking and the great outdoors. He also enjoys exercise and reading.

Jack Cuatt, Assistant Scoutmaster/Chaplain

Jack has been involved in scouting since 2005. He has served as an assistant den leader for Cub Scout Pack 40 at Hawk’s Rise Elementary. Jack works for KeHe Distributors as an area sales representative. He is married to Donna, has four children and two grandchildren. His son, Will, is a first class scout with the troop. One of his daughters is a 9th grader at Chiles High School. He has two grown daughters that live in St. Petersburg. Jack likes to camp, read, and work around the yard in his spare time. He is a deacon and an usher at Bradfordville First Baptist Church.

David Sims, Assistant Scoutmaster

David has been involved in Scouting since 1997 when his oldest son started as a Tiger Cub. During that time he has served as a Den Leader, Assistant Cub Master and Cub Master for Pack 38 and Scoutmaster for Troop 114. David is also a graduate of Florida State University and has a police officer/sgt. with the Tallahassee Police Department since 1987. He has taught the D.A.R. E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program in both public and private schools for twenty years. He is a certified first responder to medical emergencies. David’s hobbies include family, exercise and reading.

Kyle Sims, Assistant Scoutmaster

Kyle has been involved in Scouting since 1997 when he joined Cub Scout Pack 38, as a Tiger Cub. In 2002, Kyle joined Boy Scout Troop 114 and has held the following positions; Senior Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Librarian, and Troop Guide. While in Troop 114, Kyle also obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. Kyle is a graduate of Chiles High School and currently attends Tallahassee Community College. He is also employed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Kyle’s hobbies include working out, reading and history.

Brian Dougherty, Assistant Scoutmaster, Quartermaster

Brian has been very active in Troop 114 since his son Chris joined. He has frequently chaperoned camping trips and summer camps including Camp Lumpkin and Sea Base. Last year he taught merit badge classes including Environmental Science. His love for outdoor activities is evident and he can be relied on during the Christmas Tree sale to do whatever needs to be done.

Cyndy Loomis, Assistant Scoutmaster / Outdoor Coordinator

Cyndy has been involved with scouting as a parent since her son, John, was a tiger cub. John is now a Life Scout with Troop 114. Cyndy is the Chief Operating Officer at Information Systems of Florida, a local information technology firm. Her hobbies include reading and traveling in the US and abroad. As assistant scoutmaster, Cyndy specializes in working with the new Scouts joining Troop 114 to ensure a smooth transition from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. Cyndy also conducts all weekend and summer camping events to ensure proper BSA procedures are followed.

Jeff King, Assistant Scoutmaster, Outdoor Activities Coordinator

Jeff was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout as a child in Oklahoma and Texas. He has enjoyed camping, fishing and other activities all his life. His son Aaron is a Boy Scout, his daughter Lindsey is a Girl Scout and his wife, Mikki is the Girl Scout Troop leader. Jeff has been in the jewelry and coin business for most of his life. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, photography, and selling collectibles on eBay.

Harvey Swisher, Assistant Scoutmaster

Harvey was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout, obtaining the rank of Second Class. Starting in 1995 he served as an Assistant Scoutmaster and Scoutmaster for Troop 115 before moving to Troop 114 as Assistant Scoutmaster. He is also a member of the Order of the Arrow. When the troop eats together, Harvey is a master of the Dutch oven! Harvey enjoys scouting, baseball, hunting and fishing.

Troop Committee

Anna Willis, Committee Chair

Dianna (Anna) Willis has been involved in scouting for many years. She has served as a committee member with Troop 114 and is currently the Committee Chairperson. She has a BA from Emory University in Economics and a BSN from Florida State in nursing. She has become involved with Troop 114 with her two sons. Oldest son John is a former Life Scout and now is now an Assistant Scoutmaster. Matthew, her youngest, is a current Life Scout who is working on his Eagle Project. Anna is a registered nurse working for a local family practice doctor's office. In her spare time, Anna enjoys reading and spending time with her family.

Laura Myers, Committee Treasurer

Laura Myers lives with her husband, Bruce Thyer, and their four children, John (16), William (14), Joseph (12) and Cynthia (10). Her three boys have just recently joined troop 114 and are very excited to be part of this great troop. Bruce is a social work professor at Florida State University and Laura is a faculty member and the Bachelor of Social Work program director at Florida A&M University. She received her master's and doctoral degrees at the University of Georgia, and attended Florida State University as an undergraduate student.

Margot Palazesi, Committee Secretary

Margot Palazesi lives with her husband, Mark Dietrich and their three children, Ann (20), Sarah Marie (18), and Nick (13). Margot works for Leon County Schools and is happy to be a part of Troop 114.

Rodney Register, Advancement Coordinator

Rodney has the coveted distinction of being one of our Scout parents who is also an Eagle Scout. He has been active in the Troop since his son Kendall joined. He has frequently served on boards of review and served as an adult leader at Wallwood. Rodney is also involved parent, with his wife Mary, in the Chiles High School Band Boosters. Helping with youth activities at this church also claims Rodney’s time. Rodney is a project manager for the City of Tallahassee and has been with the City since 1980.

Mark Wiman, Training & Safety Coordinator

Mark has been a committee member since 2008. He graduated from Purdue University with an engineering degree and obtained his masters degree in computer science from FSU. He currently works as a R&D manager for Open Text (formerly Hummingbird and PC Docs) in the development of document management software. He has been married to Allison since 1994, they have three children, Adam(1996), Anna(1998), and Amanda(2001). Mark enjoys camping, baseball, and being involved in his children's activities.

Merlin Russell, Charter Organization Representative

Merlin serves as the Chartered Organization Representative (COR). As a COR, Merlin serves as a liaison between Troop 114 and Christ Presbyterian Church (CPC). He is an elder at CPC and serves there in various capacities. Merlin began active participation as the COH in 1999. He also served as Troop Chaplain from 1999-2009. Professionally, Merlin worked as a professional geologist with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for 17 years. In September 2003, he went to work as a Senior Regulatory Specialist with an environmental consulting company, WRS Infrastructure & Environment. Merlin returned to DEP in October 2009 as a professional geologist. Merlin attended Woodbadge SR-387 in the spring of 2001 and received his beads in 2003. Merlin considers himself a naturalist, and interests include camping, astronomy, paleontology, gardening, writing poetry, cooking and genealogy, among others.

Ken Baldauf, Web Master

Ken Baldauf works with his stepson and scout Tyler Doherty to design, and maintain this Web site. Ken has been a member of the Troop 114 committee since 2007 and works as the Director of the Program in Interdisciplinary Computing at FSU.
