Adult Volunteers Needed for Campouts!
We need adult volunteers to coordinate upcoming campouts. This will enable us to "spread the work" so it does not always fall to a few.
The "Coordinator" would be responsible for the following tasks:
Collecting names of all scouts that wish to attend.
Sending all emails associated with the campout.
Setting departure and return time/location.
Ensuring sufficient adult volunteers for camping trip.
Ensuring someone is able to haul trailer and kayaks.
Provide directions for all drivers.
Ensure one adult is responsible for food.
Ensure one or more scout is responsible for food.
Plan activities for the campout (or assign this to someone else going).
Counting scouts while on the trip to ensure we don't lose anyone.
We need a volunteer for each of the following camp outs:
November 14 - 16: Pensacola Naval Air Station (Cyndy Loomis will do this one)
December 16 - 19: Disney World (this is a family camping trip)
February 13 - 15: Battle of Olustee
March 8: Battle of Natural Bridge (Day Trip)
March 13 - 15: Suwannee River (Overnight canoe and kayak/camping)
April 17 - 19: Location TBA, but someplace close
Please email and let me know which trip you'd like to coordinate!

Birdsong Nature Center Volunteer Day
October 26 1:00 - 5:00
Birdsong is looking for volunteers from our troop on Sunday, October 26 from 1:00 to 5:00. Attached is a flyer that provides more details. Please let me know by Wednesday (October 15) if your scout would like to participate. You will need to bring them to Birdsong by 1:00 on Sunday for the event and I will meet them there. Each boy will need to work a four hour shift. If you think that is too much for your scout, please let me know so I can have them split the shift with someone else.
They need to wear their class A uniforms. It is likely they will be taped for the local news.

Manatee Springs Camp Out
October 17-19
We have an upcoming camp out to Manatee Springs. There will be fishing, kayaking, and hiking. The camp sites have bathrooms with showers. It is located along the Suwannee River. The boys can swim in the spring, which is crystal clear. If they have snorkeling equipment they should bring it along with fishing equipment.
It will be from Friday, October 17th through Sunday, October 19th. The 17th is a teacher planning day so the boys will be able to leave earlier than usual as long as we have parents who can chaperone them. There will be a sign up sheet at the meeting next Monday. We will need a firm committment by Monday night, October 13th.
It will cost each boy $25. This will pay for their camp fees and food for the weekend. Any extra money goes towards gas for those adults that drive. We would like to have at least four parents to go on this camp out. Please let me know if you can chaperone.
Update: Oct 16: They will be leaving tomorrow from the church at 2:00. The plan is for the boys to hike, swim in the spring, kayak, and fish. The boys can bring snorkeling equipment, fishing poles, and comfortable shoes. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Annual Boy Scout Fun Shoot
October 4th 9am-noon
This Saturday is the annual Fun Shoot from 9-1:00. We will need to meet at the church at 8:00 to drive out there. We will need several adults to drive. Please let Trish know ASAP if you or your scout are interested in going.
For those of you who have never participated in this event, it is a free event where the boys get to go and shoot several different types of guns. The boys love it going and I would encourage as many of them as possible to go.
